Ligands characterization

The oxoanions of these elements represent an extensive set of potential ligands, characterized by a dominant, but not exclusive, tendency towards O bonding. Practically every known oxoanion has been introduced into the Co coordination sphere during the last century. [Pg.47]

Substituted thioureas have been extensively studied over the decades. Reaction of CoX2 (X = C1, Br) with substituted phenylthioureas yield a range of complexes involving halide and thiourea as ligands, characterized by spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis.503 Both [Co(Rtu)4(OH2)2]2+ (Rtu = thiourea, phenylthiourea, allylthiourea) and [Co(Rtu)2(OH2)4]2+ (Rtu = diphenylthiourea) have been prepared and characterized as low-spin octahedral species.504 The octahedral bis(phenylthiourea)bis(dithiolate)cobalt(II) complex, one of a number of complexes of phenylthiourea, chlorophenylthiourea and bis(diphenylphospinothioyl)methane prepared and characterized,505 proved the most biologically active of those tested. [Pg.53]

A plot of [A]q + y versus reciprocal breakthrough volume supports the determination of Bt and by linear regression analysis. As with all FAC methods for ligand characterization, the cartridge does not require precalibration before a measurement is made, because is a product of the measurement. One disadvantage of this method is that any error in the earlier measurements is carried forward in subsequent ones however the speed of these measurements and the ability to accurately measure Vq usually makes this the method of choice. [Pg.225]

The asymmetric amplification is a consequence of an in situ increase in the ee of the active catalyst, since racemic ligand is trapped in the unreactive or weakly reactive meso catalyst. In the reservoir effect a similar phenomenon occurs outside the catalytic cycle. Let us assume that part of the initial chiral ligand, characterized by eeaux, is diverted into a set of catalytically inactive complexes (Scheme 12). [Pg.271]

The carboxylic acid amides most conunonly studied as ligands are formamide, acetamide, and the W-substituted derivatives, particularly A,A-dimethylformamide (DMF). These compounds are often used as solvents and have high dielectric constants, particularly when they contain an N-H bond, and such uses helped to stimulate interest in the amides as ligands. There are two possible donor atoms, N or O, but all complexes of the simple amide ligands, characterized by X-ray structure determination at least, have M-O bonds. The amides are usually terminal ligands but can bridge between metal atoms in some instances. [Pg.5075]

Figure 5.6(b) compares the effect of occupancy and steric bulkiness in the particular positions of a ligand (characterized by the van der Waals radii R) to the steric requirements in the ligand-binding site of a protein (represented by its molecular surface). In particular, areas where steric bulk leads to decrease in activity (blue circles) correspond to a tight binding pocket, while a positive effect of steric bulk on activity (red circles) is found in the open pocket area. [Pg.163]

The introduction to the symposium details the current constraints on research in general and chemical modeling in particular. The 37 technical papers presented fall naturally into the areas of 1) redox equilibria, 2) organic ligand characterization and stability constant estimation, 3) adsorption processes, 4) evaluation and estimation of thermodynamic and kinetic data, 5) interfacing chemical and biological models, and 6) comprehensive chemical models and their applications. [Pg.4]

Reduction of ReCls with excess allylmagnesium halide produces orange Re2( r-C3H5)4 dimers . A D2d geometry and no bridging allyl ligands characterize this Rej unit ". A thorough treatment of related Re chemistry is available . [Pg.177]

Hyper IgM syndrome (HIGM). Primary T cell defect due to mutations in the CD40 ligand. Characterized by recurrent (opportunistic) infections and very low levels of IgG and IgA. Autoimmune manifestations (e.g. cytopenia, arthritis, sclerosing cholangitis) are often seen. [Pg.238]

Polydentate Hgands are capable of introducing more variations in isomerism. Complexes containing unsymmetrical bidentate chelating Hgands can also exist as cis- and iraws-isomers of type [M(AB)2] , where AB is unsymmetrical bidentate chelating ligand characterized by different... [Pg.80]
