LIF system

The LIF system was used to measure different water samples by plaeing the sample in the quartz eell of the apparatus. The goal was to obtain fluoreseenee patterns typieal for the ground and drinking water. 

A number of fiber optic-based systems have been described for CE-LIF systems. " These systems boast a small footprint, and the terminal of the fiber optic can be placed exceedingly close to the detection window, thus enabling high collection efficiency. Hence, fiber optics are an excellent choice for systems where the overall footprint must be kept to a minimum, such as field-deployable sensors or lab-on-a-chip applications.

The LIF system developed by Kenny s group permits also three-dimensional fingerprint of the sample although it consists of fluorescence intensities as a function of excitation and emission wavelength rather than decay time and emission wavelength.
