Levetiracetam Warfarin

Two placebo-controlled studies in healthy snbjects have shown no interactions of levetiracetam with warfarin (21).

Drug Interactions. Levetiracetam neither inhibits nor indnces the CYP450, UGT, or epoxide hydrolase enzyme systems, and in vitro data predict a low potential for pharmacokinetic interactions. Levetiracetam does not appear to interact with other AEDs, warfarin, digoxin, or oral contraceptive drngs. ° ... 

In a controlled study, levetiracetam did not alter the pharmacokinetics or pharmacodynamics of warfarin. 

In a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 42 healthy subjects stabilised on warfarin, levetiracetam 1 g twice daily for 7 days had no significant effect on the pharmaeokineties of R- or 5-warfarin and the INRs were not signifieantly altered. No warfarin dose adjustments would therefore be expeeted to be needed on eoneurrent use.
