Arctic seas are subject to contamination by oil and oil products [Figs. 3 and 4]. Barents Sea is mostly contaminated by the oil products brought there from the Atlantic by the ocean. The highest concentrations of oil were observed in the western part of the sea. The main contributors of oil to the Kara Sea and other seas to the east are Siberian rivers—Ob, Pur, Enisey, Lena and others. Concentrations of oil in the mouths of the rivers and in bays are higher than in open parts of seas. [Pg.265]
