Leakage of Fuel Gas

In the past great earthquakes, cases of leakage of city gas and liquefied propane gas occurred, but cases involving fires were relatively rare in Japan. This was supposedly due to the small scale of most of the leaks and to success in removing the ignition sources. [Pg.64]

In the recent Mexico City Earthquake (September 19, 1985) and the Whittier Narrows Earthquake (October 1, 1987), however, there were many gas fires caused by gas leakage and subsequent ignition. [Pg.64]
