Leak Detection of Systems in the Medium-Vacuum Range

Before connecting a helium leak detector to a system and choosing accessories the following questions should be answered. 

The working method is strongly dependent on the leak detector connection in fine vacuum the detector can be connected directly whereas in gross vacuum throttles, leak valves, traps, filters or cold-traps have to be inserted.

If the system pressure is below the maximum tolerable inlet pressure of the leak detector (e.g. 0.2 mbar, with newer instruments even up to 5 or 10 mbar) the helium leak detector can directly be connected to the system.
