Leaf corner

The ground term of the cP configuration is F. That of is also F. Those of and d are " F. We shall discuss these patterns in Section 3.10. For the moment, we only note the common occurrence of F terms and ask how they split in an octahedral crystal field. As for the case of the D term above, which splits like the d orbitals because the angular parts of their electron distributions are related, an F term splits up like a set of / orbital electron densities. A set of real / orbitals is shown in Fig. 3-13. Note how they comprise three subsets. One set of three orbitals has major lobes directed along the cartesian x or y or z axes. Another set comprises three orbitals, each formed by a pair of clover-leaf shapes, concentrated about two of the three cartesian planes. The third set comprises just one member, with lobes directed equally to all eight corners of an inscribing cube. In the free ion, of course, all seven / orbitals are degenerate. In an octahedral crystal field, however, the... 

Simple leaf mold containers can be made with netting and posts, or bought. There is no need for a lid or solid sides, nor is size critical—just big enough to hold your supply of leaves. Smaller quantities can be stuffed into plastic bags. Make a few air holes with a garden fork when the bags are full, and tie the top loosely. An even simpler method is to just pile the leaves in a sheltered corner and wait.

The frame is the leaf into which the material to be filtered discharges. If plates only are employed they must be of the recessed type, see Fig. 20. In the recessed type of plate the depth of recess is about % in. Referring to Fig. 20 the hole in the upper left-hand corner is the feed hole. To employ the recessed type a piece of cloth is cut long enough to cover both sides. A hole is cut in the cloth where it passes over the feed hole on each side. A gommet nut is then inserted in the hole and the screw rings are tightened up on it to make a seal. 

But what does appropriate mean for scientific documentation Obviously, simple documentation is not enough there are additional requirements for a scientific notebook. Some companies sell preprinted paper notebooks, usually containing 100 to 150 pages, square grid or horizontal ruled, serially numbered in the upper outside corner, and bound at the left margin. Loose-leaf or spiral notebooks are not acceptable, because pages can be intentionally inserted or removed or accidentally ripped out. Any such action opens up the possibility that someone will question the authenticity of the data. Here is a summary of the most important laboratory notebook rules ...
