LCA A decision-making tool for recycling

LCA A decision-making tool for recycling processes in textile industry [Pg.133]

Nowadays, companies take more and more into accoimt the environmental aspects because of legislation or ecological concern. In the textile industry, this environmental approaeh ean be realized from the design of the product. For example, it is possible to produce an item made of organic cotton or to use a more eeo-friendly dyeing proeess. [Pg.133]

The introduetion of reeyeling processes is also a way of eco-design. These proeesses ean be realized at different levels of the life cycle during the produetion or at the end of life of the textile product (recycling of post consumer waste). [Pg.133]

There are three kinds of reeovering the use as secondary raw material (the recycled material is re-used in the initial cycle), the use for another application in the textile seetor, and the use in a new line of business. Manufacturers must choose the most relevant solutions, among many possibilities, for their products. To make their decision, they can use the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). [Pg.133]
