Lawson

Lynn lived and worked with migraine and other headaches for more than forty years. At age sixty she retired, hoping that that might bring her some relief. When that didn t help, she finally followed 

Lynn believes the success of her recovery is due, in part, to the quality of her early life. Raised in Wisconsin at a time when farmers put manure, not synthetic chemicals, on their fields, she ate only organic foods because that was all there was. Her mother, a physiotherapist in World War I and keenly interested in health, raised her as a vegetarian, although she now eats meats. Lynn describes her mother as a forerunner of the holistic practitioner. 

Now in her seventies, Lynn addresses her concerns regarding the lack of safe retirement homes and nursing facilities for elderly people with MCS who are unable to continue living in their own homes. 

Our conversation took place at O Hare International Airport, where Lynn came to meet me during a brief layover. 

During the forty-plus years that I was increasingly sick with headaches, I thought I had this incurable disease called migraines. But after a few months of avoiding the chemicals and foods that I tested positive to, my headaches greatly diminished. I finally knew what most other people must feel like most of the time. That was a turning point in my life.

High temperature is an important requirement for the attainment of fusion reactions in a plasma. The conditions necessary for extracting as much energy from the plasma as went into it is the Lawson criterion, which states that the product of the ion density and the confinement or reaction time must exceed 10 s/cm in the most favorable cases (173). If the coUisions are sufficiently violent, the Lawson criterion specifies how many of them must occur to break even. Conventional magnetic confinement involves fields of as much as 10 T (10 G) with large (1 m ) plasmas of low densities (<10 particles/cm ) and volumes and reaction times of about 1 s.
