Lantana camara, essential

In the essential oils from Hedychium flavum and Lantana camara (+)-terpinen-4-ol was the dominant enantiomer of not a high enantiomeric purity, either. 

Lantana camara Linn, [bukhwebeletane, lantana] (Verbenaceae) leaf infusion is used for coughs and also against malaria, where it reduces the fever. The leaf contains anthranoids, flavonoids, polyphenols, saponins and steroids (14,15). A glycoside of pentacyclic triterpenoid oleanenoic acid isolated from the plant has molluscicidal property (56). The essential oil from its flowers and leaves contain mainly sesquiterpenes (57).

Plant-derived materials have been used for centuries to repel biting arthropods, for example, by hanging bruised plant parts in houses, burning plant materials, or applying essential oils to the skin. Recently, outdoor plantations of repellent plants such as wild sage, neem, lemongrass, and West Indian lantana were studied for their effect on mosquito house entry in rural tropical areas. When Lantana camara was planted outdoors, up to 83% fewer Anopheles funestus were collected indoors compared to control houses.
