Lactitol palmitate showed very promising detergent properties, which are in accordance with the results of F. Scholnick, et al., Eastern Regional Research Center, U.S.D.A., published in J.A.O.C.S. July 1975. They have prepared lactitol palmitate by reesterification of methylpalmitate with lactitol in DMF.
