When a facility exercises universal precautions when handhng soiled laundry, alternative labeling or color-coding is sufficient if it permits all employees to recognize the containers as requiring compliance with universal precautions. The standard specifies universal precautions, engineering and work practice controls, personal protective equipment, and housekeeping, combined with HBV vaccinations/post-exposure follow-up, hazard communication labels/signs, record keeping and training, to reduce occupational exposure for all employees exposed to blood and potentially infectious materials. Meeting these requirements is not optional to employers or employees it is now required by law. [Pg.408]

Students, workers, supervisors, managers, and administration should comply with the chemical safety management group/team. This is applicable to laboratories, university departments, factories, and industrial units where exposure to chemical substances is likely and precautions are necessary. People should be fully informed of the hazards involved and trained in appropriate safe working practices, globally harmonized system (GHS) for classification and labeling of chemicals, and first-aid measures. [Pg.191]
