L-Iditol dehydrogenase

Enzymic syntheses are considered next. Xylitol is a substrate for sheep-liver L-iditol dehydrogenase, a NAD-linked enzyme. 1-Deoxy-D-xylitol, prepared by Raney nickel reduction of D-xylose diethyl dithioacetal in a 27% overall yield from D-xylose, was also reported31 to be a substrate, although with a higher Km and lower Vmax. The product was assumed to be l-deoxy-D-f/ireo-pentulose because of the appearance of a yellowish fluorescent spot when a chromatogram was sprayed with acidic 3,5-aminobenzoic acid, resembling that formed from 1 -deoxyfructose. There was no more-rigorous characterization. [Pg.281]

A review on the preparation and separation of inositol tetrakisphosphates and the establishment of enantiomeric configuration by use of L-iditol dehydrogenase has appeared. The synthesis and biological evaluation of inositol derivatives as inhibitors of phospholipase C (PLC) has been reviewed. A review on the chemistry, preparation and enzymatic reactions of inositol phosphates and a review on the biochemistry, stereochemistry and nomenclature of inositol phosphates has also been reported. A part review on phosphonate analogues of myo-inositol triphosphate has appeared. ... [Pg.214]

This enzyme [EC 1.1.1.14], also known as L-iditol 2-dehydrogenase and polyol dehydrogenase, catalyzes the reaction of L-iditol with NAD+ to produce L-sorbose and NADH. The enzyme will also convert D-glucitol to D-fructose. [Pg.644]

D-Glucitol dehydrogenase has broad substrate-specificity. The enzyme oxidizes D-glucitol, L-iditol, ribitol, and xylitol in the presence of NAD+ cofactor.414 424 NAD+ can be replaced by 3-acetylpyridine adenine dinucleotide (AcPyAD), 3-thionicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (TNAD), or nicotinamide hypoxanthine dinucleotide (NHD).414... [Pg.340]
