Krox gene

Demethylase gene PRDMl encodes B lymphocyte-induced maturation protein BLIMP 1 descendant of krox gene of sea urchin S. purpuratus originator of the SET domain Su(var) Enhancer of zeste trithorax (discovered in drosophila). KDM = lysine demethylase (Hemming S et al Stem Cells 2014 32 802-815).

Activation of p42/p44 MAPK can be linked to expression of immediate early genes, as has been demonstrated for krox-24 expression induced by CBi receptors in U373MG human astrocytoma cells (Bouaboula et al. 1995a). Administration of A -THC to mice led to the p42/p44 MAPK-dependent expression of c-fos and zif268 in the hippocampus (Derkinderen et al. 2003). These transcription factors modulate the gene expression pattern for proteins involved in cellular functions associated with synaptic plasticity, cell survival, and differentiation.
