The Krogmann salts are prepared by partial oxidation of the integral oxidation state compounds. Oxidation can be carried out either by chemical means (Cl2, H202 or atmospheric 02) or electro-lytically. Details of the preparative details of many of these compounds have been published.28 In many cases high quality single crystals can be obtained suitable for solid state studies. [Pg.136]

The ADtcp complexes are the most extensively studied series of Krogmann salts. In particular, the solid state properties of K2[Pt(CN)4]Br0.30 3.2H2O, KCP(Br), have been studied in great detail because of the availability of large high quality single crystals.30-32... [Pg.136]

The parameter ij measures the crystallographic difference between the M11 and M1V sites. PES studies show that the electronic difference also becomes less as ri increases.144 If X came to the midpoint between Mn and M111 (i.e. rj = 1) then all the M ions would become equivalent and a similar situation to the Krogmann salts might be expected, with very high conductivities. The position of the intervalence band is also strongly dependent on rj and moves to lower frequencies as rj approaches unity.145... [Pg.149]

The first compound widely noticed as a molecular inorganic conductor was KCP, K2[Pt(CN)4]Xo.3 H20 (X = Cl, Br), which was reported in 1968.KCP is a partially oxidised platinum complex, later called the Krogmann salt, and was prepared by oxidising a platinum(II) complex with halogen, or by electrochemical oxidation, or by mixing platinum(II) and platinum(IV) complexes. The KCP structure is characterised by... [Pg.225]
