Kipping, Frederic Stanley

More often it was the wife who undertook secretarial duties, and the three Holland sisters exemplified this role. Kathleen Holland was one of the three daughters (the others being Mina and Lily) of William Thomas Holland and Florence DuVal.5 Each of the sisters married a renowned chemist Mina married William Henry Perkin, Jr. in 1887s Lily married her cousin, Frederic Stanley Kipping, in 18887 and Kathleen married Arthur Lapworth in 1900.8 Both Mina and Kathleen were childless, while Lily had four children. 

The investigation, which won the Frederic Stanley Kipping Award of the American Chemical Society in 1975, was based on the photoelectron spectra [2b] of both unsubstituted and permethylated (Fig. 6) polysilanes, which exhibit characteristic band patterns in their low-energy region up to 10 eV due to ionizations into radical cation states with a predominant SiSi framework...
