Kinetics, and mechanisms of reactions

Although the literature contains a very large number of research articles concerned with the kinetics and mechanisms of reactions involving solids, there are comparatively few authoritative, critical and comprehensive reviews of the formidable quantity of information which is available. Probably the most important general account of the field is the book Chemistry of the Solid State, edited by Gamer [63]. Chapters 7—9 are particularly relevant in the present context as they provide a systematic exposition of the kinetic equations applicable to the decomposition of single solids (Jacobs and Tompkins [28]) and their application to endothermic [64] and exothermic [65] reactions. 

No unifying theoretical concepts have been recognized which can be used to provide satisfactory criteria for the comprehensive classification of the kinetics and mechanisms of reactions involving solids. Thus the scope and treatment of the subject cannot be entirely systematic. General problems encountered during any attempt to review the field include the following.

Brief mentions of kinetics and mechanisms of reactions of nitrogen bases with a selection of palladium(II) complexes with ammine, amines, pyridine-2-carboxylate, pyridoxine, and related ligands are included in a review of analogous platinum(II) reactions (194). 

But to look somewhat more closely at the structure of the wave, one must deal with the kinetics of the chemical reaction. The kinetics and mechanism of reaction give the time and spatial separation of the front and the C-J plane.
