Key geotextile properties and behavior

The key properties of geotextiles used in reinforced soil applications are introduced with short explanations. The mechanical properties discussed here indicate the geotextile resistance to tensile stresses mobilized from applied loads and/or installation conditions. 

Maximum tensile strength (referred to as the geotextile s strength), Tuk 

Strain at failure (generally referred to as maximum elongation, or simply elongation) 

Modulus of elasticity (generally referred to as secant modulus at 2%, 5%, or 10% strain).
