A cyclic, planar, completely conjugated compound that contains 4r + 2 jt electrons (n = 0,1,2, 3, and so forth). 

An aromatic compound is more stable than a similar acyclic compound having the same number of jt electrons. 

A comjxjund that lacks one (or more) of the four requirements to be aromatic or anti aromatic.
