Keep Your Supervisor Informed

Sometimes it s easier to just go along. Say and do what your boss wants, or you think he or she wants. Keep your supervisor happy rather than developing an informed, mutually-dependent, beneficial relationship in which you give the best that you have to offer. 

If you are not always there, or do not have time to manage on a day-to-day basis, you can delegate this role to someone else, eg director, manager or supervisor. You will need to ensure that they keep you fully Informed of health and safety matters - It will still be your overall responsibility. 

On large jobs, the foreman or supervisor is often required to keep a report of the relevant events which happen on the site - for example, how many people from your company are working on site each day, what goods were delivered, whether there were any breakages or accidents, and records of site meetings attended. Some firms have two separate documents a site diary to record daily events and a weekly report which is a summary of the week s events extracted from the site diary. The site diary remains on-site and the weekly report is sent to Head Office to keep managers informed of the work s progress. 

To improve the chances for motivating workers, supervisors must keep employees informed about what is going on in the organization People like to feel that they are trusted with information as it becomes available. Make expectations clear, be honest, and stick to your decisions. 

Your immediate supervisor is responsible for keeping you apprised of the approved procedures and information related to the health and safety aspects of your activities.
