Karl Fischer Titrator for Liquid Samples

Experiment 53 Operation of Metrohm Model 701 Karl Fischer Titrator (for Liquid Samples) [Pg.414]

If not already done, set up a titration unit as indicated on page 4 of the Metrohm Model 703 Ti Stand Instructions for Use manual, and an exchange unit as indicated on pages 72 and 73 of the Metrohm Model 701 KF Titrino Instructions for Use manual. Place titrant in a bottle labeled titrant. Place methanol in a bottle labeled solvent. Make sure both bottle caps are tight. Switch on the instrument. [Pg.414]

Perform this step if the buret is not already filled. To fill the buret, press the DOS button until the piston is in the top end position. Then press the fill/stop button. Repeat so that all air bubbles are eliminated. [Pg.414]

Press and hold the IN button on the top rear of the 703 Ti Stand in order to pump solvent into the titration vessel. Continue to add solvent until the electrode pins are completely immersed. [Pg.414]

Determine the titer of the titrant as follows. Tare an empty 50-/rL syringe on an analytical balance, and then fill to the 40-/LL line with distilled water and weigh again. This weight is the weight of the water in the syringe. Press mode on the keypad a few times until the display reads titer with H20 or std. Press enter.  [Pg.414]
