The analogous 4-aminohex-5-ynoic acid (9.93) similarly elevates the GABA level in mouse brain (Jung and Metcalf, 1975). Moreover, 4-amino-5-fluoro-pentanoic acid, injected intraperitoneally into mice, raised the brain level of GABA 16-fold (Silverman et al, 1981) The same mechanism is postulated except that the pyridoxamine form of the coenzyme participates (Silverman and Levy, 1981).
