Jouguet Parameters or Variables

Detonation, Chapman-Jouguet Parameters or Chapman-Jouguet Variables. Parameters are properties, or thermodynamic coordinates of the reaction products at equilibrium or completion of the reaction. These parameters are denoted by subscript CJ, like in P -j

Note 1 The product (pQ/D) (dD/dpQ) has no name. It signifies the proportionate increase in D for a given proportionate increase in pQ, and hence is the slope of the dimensionless D/p curve 

Note 2. The term P( 9V/dE)p, where P is pressure of gas V - its volume and E specific energy, might be considered as a measure of gas imperfection of the detonation products, since for an ideal gas (E= RT), this term would be unity 

Note 3. When the term Chapman-Jouguet (C-J) is used to denote a given pressure, particle velocity, temp, etc, it means the values of these parameters at the Chapman-Jouguet plane, which accdg to the classical NDZ (vonNeumann-Doring-Zel dovich) theory is the rear boundary of the reaction zone.
