Job hopping

Frequent job hopping is something employers don t look favorably upon. Because it s expensive to train new employees, few employers are willing to invest in someone with a record of jumping between jobs frequently. Someone who can demonstrate a sense of loyalty to their past employer will be more desirable. 

The good news is that the traditional approach to a career— which used to be to stay with one company for decades, if not for your entire career—is no longer expected. Most companies now realize that employees move from one company to another more frequently. So as long as you stay at a job and a company for a reasonable amount of time (which could be a year or two), employers no longer perceive this as frequent job hopping, but a desire to move quickly to a desired level and to get ahead.

Deming also identified 5 deadly sins. These are lack of constancy, short-term profits, performance appraisals, job-hopping and use of visible figures alone. Deming has proposed to use a cycle that he named the Shewhart cycle. It is also called PDCA (plan, do, check and act) cycle. Some of his famous quotations are as follows ... 

Another indication of a potential problem is the individual who job hops for no apparent reason. It could be a sign that the individual does not feel any loyalty to their employers, or does not have their employers interests at heart. Worse, it could be a sign that the individual is trying to stay one step... 

Erratic or job-hopping work history — At best, fi equent job switches may indicate a reactionary, impulsive, or even risk-taking personality — traits... 

As mentioned in the previous chapter, studies prove that drivers over 25 and up to 65 years of age are as efficient as yoimg drivers, are safer workers, are less prone to job-hop, and have low rates of tardiness and absenteeism. ...
