Jig Concentrators

Bird no. (mass of solids with a +0.1 density variation from the cut density) 15 relative density ratio 2 to 2.5 and particle diameter 2 to 10 mm. Feed concentration 1.5 to 30% w/w. 

Loading 1 to 8 kg/s rrf with loading increasing with increase in particle diameter. Power 1 kW/m and water usage 13 L/s m.  

Keep feedrate constant. Add surge and storage tanks to aid control. Keep feed free from a high portion of fines.

Gravity concentration, ie, the separation of ore from gangue based on the differences in specific gravities, using jigs, heavy—medium separators, or spiral concentrators for example, is appHcable for lead ores. However, the predominant beneficiation technique used in modem plants is the bubble or froth flotation (qv) process (4,5). 

Tocainide is rapidly and well absorbed from the GI tract and undergoes very fitde hepatic first-pass metabolism. Unlike lidocaine which is - 30% bioavailable, tocainide s availability approaches 100% of the administered dose. Eood delays absorption and decreases plasma levels but does not affect bio availability. Less than 10% of the dmg is bound to plasma proteins. Therapeutic plasma concentrations are 3—9 jig/mL. Toxic plasma levels are >10 fig/mL. Peak plasma concentrations are achieved in 0.5—2 h. About 30—40% of tocainide is metabolized in the fiver by deamination and glucuronidation to inactive metabolites. The metabolism is stereoselective and the steady-state plasma concentration of the (3)-(—) enantiomer is about four times that of the (R)-(+) enantiomer. About 50% of the tocainide dose is efirninated by the kidneys unchanged, and the rest is efirninated as metabolites. The elimination half-life of tocainide is about 15 h, and is prolonged in patients with renal disease (1,2,23).

The devices used for the gravity concentration of minerals are many in number. Typical examples include devices such as jigs, spirals, tables, and heavy medium separators. 

Jigs are relatively cheap with regard to construction, operation, and maintenance, and are relatively unaffected by the grade of the feed. They are basically designed for handling material that is too coarse for table feed (380 mm in diameter down to 2 mm). The cleaning of coal and the production of tin mineral concentrate can be cited as two major examples where jigging is found to be in use even today.

Gravimetric separation systems. These include jigs, shaking tables, Humphrey-type spiral concentrators, and so on.

Precaution When Shimadzu UV 160 spectrophotometer is used, the absorbance should not be higher than 0.430, because concentrations of ferulic acid for a standard curve is supposed to be between 0.33-80 jig/ml.
