Iterative evaluations

The rational characterisation of risks requites iterative evaluation processes in different stages on the basis of easily available information (preliminary processes, screening). The step-by-step consolidation of information about substance properties and exposnre potential should be made depending on the risk involved in order to concentrate the required resources for information procurement and evalnation where the essential risks are located (proceduralisation 2). [Pg.133]

Estimates must be made of V/L at the top and bottom and the feed zone. In distillation problems, assumption of constant molal overflow in each zone probably is within the accuracy of the method. In stripping or absorption columns, first iteration evaluations of the amounts of stripping or absorption will provide improved estimates of V/L at the key points in the columns. [Pg.398]

The refinement calculations require substantial computer resources, particularly if refinement includes iterative evaluation via simulation of the experimental data using both geometrical and dynamics information. [Pg.200]

Such an iterative evaluation was first carried out by Vidte in 1593, starting with an inscribed square with = V2. This produced, for the first time, an actual formula for n, expressed as an infinite sequence of nested square roots ... [Pg.59]

There are two elements to acceptance evaluations i) user acceptance, ii) biomechanical injury assessment. Due to the nature of any defence equipment, user acceptance must be imequivocal to ensure that the LCS will be used in an appropriate manner. If iterative assessments have been undertaken, involving appropriate soldier representation, user acceptance issues should have been identified and addressed. Iterative evaluations, since they usually use SMEs, may not pick up all user acceptance issues, so some form of trialling involving junior ranks is recommended. Biomechanical assessments are needed to ensure that the potential for LCS to injme users is mitigated as much as is reasonably practicable and that it is an improvement over previous systems. [Pg.298]

Much like the choice ot the empirical potential functional form discussed in Sect. 2 above, the choice of the quantum mechanical method and model is a compromise between speed of evaluation and accuracy. The most rigorous approach to evaluating these energy and force terms would be to use ab initio quantum chemical methods with large basis sets and correlation corrections beyond the Hartree Fock level. Clearly, this is currently not a feasible approach because of the computional demands such as model places on a single energy evaluation, not to mention the iterative evaluation over thousands of structures (timesteps) of a dynamics simulation. [Pg.60]

As stated in the section on MP2, the SP ansatz improves the numerical stability and reduces the number of free parameters. The SP ansatz also allows a number of intermediates to be pre-determined non-iteratively, which is a significant saving for the iterative evaluation of the coupled-cluster equations. [Pg.48]

The basis for production systems is the MATCH-ACT or the recognize-act cycle [8] where the production system will recognize all the production rules that have a successful MATCH by iteratively evaluating the production rules over the working memory. The act phase is the action to be executed by the production rule that has been selected by the corrflict resolution phase within the iirference engine of a production system. This cycle is repeated till no production rules are true or the required results have been obtained (see Figure 1). [Pg.107]
