Isotopic Tracer Techniques Combined with ICP-MS in the Study of Metallomics

3 Isotopic Tracer Techniques Combined with ICP-MS in the Study of Metallomics [Pg.103]

Quantitative Direct quantification via element Indirect quantification via iso- [Pg.103]

Usually, the detectable isotopes, including radioactive and enriched stable isotopes, are added to a system then a pathway or a mode of distribution in biological systems can be determined. The systems cover a wide range, such as the blood flow in an animal or a manufacturing process. All these methods depend on isotopic properties, i.e. the chemical identity of all isotopes of any given element. At the same time, radioisotopes or enriched stable isotopes can readily be determined by virtue of their emitted radiations or dilferent mass-to-charge ratios, respectively. [Pg.104]

The emission of alpha, beta and gamma beams can be measured in experiments of radioactive tracers. The majority of radioisotopes used in the biomedical analysis involve beta-ray emitters, such as H, and In [Pg.104]
