Isoprenoid Tryptamine and Tryptophan Derivatives

Details of Kametani s synthesis of deoxybrevianamide E and brevianamide E have been published.23 

Roquefortines C and D are two of the four alkaloids isolated from a Japanese Penicillium strain that has been identified as P. corymbiferum,24 and roquefortine has been isolated from P. cyclopium.l5h 

Fumitremorgen B, cyclopiamine B, and a compound designated TR 2 (25) have been shown to occur in Aspergillus caespitosus Raper et Thom. 25 of these, cyclopiamine B has not previously been isolated from an Aspergillus species, and TR 2 was known only as a hydrogenation product of verruculogen. 

Neoxaline (26), the metabolite of Aspergillus japonicus,l4b proves, as expected, to be very closely related to oxaline (27). Oxidative acetylation of neoxaline by means of DMS0-Ac20 gave an enol acetate (28), which, on hydrolysis followed by methylation, gave 14-methyloxaline (29), identical with the methylation product (by CH2N2) of oxaline.26
