Iridoids occurrence

The structure for valerosidate is incorrect in the previous Report (Vol. 5, p. 17). A new valepotriate has been isolated from Valeriana officinalis and shown spectroscopically to be 7-epideacetylisovaltrate (103) 193 it is also shown to be related to didrovaltrate (104) stereochemically, but in view of the recently reported absolute configuration of didrovaltrate (104)192 this assignment must be questioned. The occurrence of iridoids in the Argentine ant Iridomyrmex humilis has been re-investigated.194...

The iridoids belonging to route lla are concentrated in Lamianae with outlying occurrences in Eucommiaceae, Aucubaceae, and Garryaccac, as well as in Ericaceae.

Occurrence Plumieride is an iridoid glucoside and occurs in the bark of Plumeria acutifolia (content ca. 4%), while the two non-glucosidic iridoids occur in P. rubra var. alba (contents 0.05 to 0.18%). 

In both ESI and MALDI mass spectra, ions due adduct-borrrrd dimers may be observed, e.g., [2M+H] or [2M+Na] in positive-ion mode arrd [2M-H]" in negative-ion mode, e.g., [100]. Adduct-bound dimers, i.e., [2M+NH4], [2M+Na], and [2M+K], were observed in the ESI-MS mass spectram of the iridoid glycoside globularin (see Fig. 7.7). The adduct-bound dimers generally occur only at higher concentrations and their relative intensity is a function of the analyte concentration. For an unknown compormd, the occurrence of adduct-bound dimers may lead to ambiguity in the determination of the molecular mass. Addition of alkylarrrines to the mobile phase has been proposed in order to prevent adduct-bound dimer formation [101], In this way, formationof [M+NaJ -ion rrray be reduced as well in favor of [M+alkylamine+H] -iorrs [64].
