Iphigenia

Iphigenia indica Bak. (Syn. Tulipa edulis) Shan Ci Kodfghvb (aerial part) Colchicine, colchicine amide, N-formyl-N-deacetylcolchine, comigerine, P-lumicolchicine.50 Antitumor activity against hepatoma, lymphosarcoma. [Pg.94]

Another plant subdivision, the Wurmbaeoideae, includes Androcymbium species, Iphigenia species, and Wurmbea species, which also contain colchicine. Iphigenia indica (shan cigu) is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine (14). [Pg.2062]

The basic fraction of several Iphigenia spp. yields a nontroponoid compound, C21H25NO5 (mp 232°-235° [a] +76° in CHCI3) (4). On the basis of IR- and UV-spectra, bechuanine is related to CC-1 (a constituent of G. cornigerum). It gives no color with concentrated sulfuric acid. [Pg.435]

Adulteration with several species has been reported, including Bolbostemma paniculatum, Tulipa edulis, Cremastra appendiculata, and the highly toxic Iphigenia indica (Bensky et al. 2004). [Pg.381]

K. Wiithrich, a leader in the field of determination of peptide-architecture by two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy, is also at the ETH in Zurich. At the University of Basel, professor Max Brenner (Plate 12) focussed his interest on several fundamental aspects of peptide synthesis, such as the problem of overactivation or peptide bond formation via rearrangements. One of his coworkers, Iphigenia Photaki (Plate 35) has already been mentioned in the section on Greece. Brenner s successor at the University of Basel, Manfred Mutter, excels with his work on liquid phase synthesis (cf. p. 111). Recently he accepted an invitation to the Free University of West Berlin and from there to Lausanne. [Pg.242]
