Inula royleana

Inula royleana D.C. According to Chopra, Kohli and Handa, this plant contains about 3 per cent, of an alkaloid, royline, C2iH3gOgN, m.p. 120-1°, — 42-5° aurichloride, m.p. 142° (dec.). The base produces... [Pg.775]

The richest known source of lycoctonine is the root of Inula royleana DC., a plant found in the lower reaches of the Himalayas. Previously, two alkaloids named royline and inuline had been isolated from these roots 16, 16a), but reexamination showed that royline and inuline are identical with lycoctonine and anthranoyllycoctonine, respectively 17). A recent report 18) describes the isolation of lycoctonine from the flowers of Consolida ragalis S. F. Gay Delphinium consolida L.). [Pg.16]

The diterpene alkaloids, lycoctonine (1009) and anthranoyllycoctonine (1010) appear to be responsible for the blood pressure depressant, smooth muscle relaxant and curareform properties of the source plant. Inula royleana (34). [Pg.488]
