Introduction to GE Gasification Technology

The Texaco Gasification Process (TGP) was developed in the late 1940s using natural gas as feedstock. The process was commercialized with gas feed in 1950 and later with liquid feed in 1956. During the oil shortage period, Texaco successfully developed its coal gasification process. [Pg.178]

Commercial-scale gasification plants based on Texaco gasification technology were then started in Ube, Japan (1650t/day) and Kingsport, TN (llOOt/day, Eastman). [Pg.179]

Since 1990, several additional commercial coal-based plants have been brought into services with Texaco gasification technologies, as summarized in Table 4.7. [Pg.179]

In June 2004, GE acquired the assets of Chevron Texaco s gasification technology business. To date, more than 65 commercial gasification facilities using GE technology are in operation or advanced development stages. [Pg.179]
