Intravascular tubing

Figure 10.13 shows examples of high-resolution patterns formed on small scale cylindrical objects - optical fiber and microcapillary tubes [1]. These simple devices (integrated photomasks for optical fiber Bragg gratings and intravascular stents), require only one patterned layer.

The intrinsic pathway is involved in the clotting of blood in glass tubes and in the undesirable intravascular clotting that results in thrombosis. Control of the clotting mechanism is thus central to hemostasis to avoid bothhemorrhage and thrombosis. 

This is commonly thought of as intravascular clotting. There is however an important difference between what happens to blood in a test-tube and what can happen to blood in the circulation, since in the latter, the blood is in constant movement or flow. In the test-tube, only what is already present...

The motion of the tube to all directions can be controlled with combined signals applied to four electrodes. For practical usage of the tip of active microcatheter for intravascular neurosurgery as shown in Figure 6.8, the tubular actuator of external diameter of 0.8 mm in the swollen state was attached to the end of catheter.
