Intravascular magnetic resonance

Methods for recognizing morphological and functional characteristics include intracoronar/ thermography, spectroscopy, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and intravascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Vasovist is the tradename of a Gd(III) complex which was the first intravascular contrast agent (see Box 4.3) approved in the EU for use in magnetic resonance angiography. The intravascular persistence of perfluorotributylamine in blood has been measured by F-NMR (nuclear magnetic resonance as well [73]. The detection limit of lO" can be reached with F-NMR Fourier transform spectrometry.
