Intrarenal pelvis

The renal pelvis varies in size. The pelvis may lie entirely within the renal sinus-intrarenal pelvis-or almost entirely outside it-extrarenal pelvis. In newborns and small infants, the pelvis is often small and intrarenal and usually points medially instead of downward. [Pg.62]

Kidneys suffering from CAN are decreased in size and have poorer corticomeduUary differentiation and, sometimes, mild dilatation of the renal ca-lices and pelvis. Most imaging techniques focus on the loss of parenchymal vascularity in the cortex to recognize this entity. However, neither R1 measurement nor evaluation of intrarenal vessel density with power Doppler mode helps to identify transplants developing CAN. Recently, several authors tried to obtain more quantitative data by calculating depth-corrected fractional areas (percentage of the area of colored pixels relative to the total region of interest... [Pg.85]
