Another reason the diet lowers blood pressure, some scientists believe, might be due to the effects of plant protein as compared with animal protein. The INTERMAP study involved 4,680 men and women from the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and China, representing seventeen diverse populations. Consumption of animal protein didn t affect blood pressure, but plant protein intake was significantly correlated with lower blood pressure. [Pg.172]
