Recently, closed coupled and/or integrated two-stage liquefactions (CC-ITSL) have been investigated to elucidate the effects of thermal/catalytic and catalytic/thermal staging on solids buildup. Two-step liquefaction is worth examining within the primary liquefaction stage.
