His eye focused on a two-centimetre bum mark scoring the composite wall. Instinct or a well-written extended sensory analysis program, it was the result which mattered. That bum mark was on the cover of a net conduit inspection panel, and it was fresh. When he switched to infrared it still glowed a faint pink. With the spectmm active, other bums became apparent, a small ruddy constellation sprayed around the corridor walls, every glimmer corresponding to an inspection panel. [Pg.322]

Do you think they got into the life-support capsules " Madeleine asked. Her own enhanced retinas were scanning around the fateful inspection panels. [Pg.322]

Inspection covers and cable boxes are particular problem areas. Effective steps should be taken to prevent the entry of moisture as this will reduce or eliminate the risk. Covers can themselves be a problem especially in dusty areas where the dust can accumulate on flat insulating surfaces resulting in tracking between conductors at different voltages and a subsequent insulation failure. The interior of inspection panels should be kept clean and dust free by using a suitable vacuum cleaner. [Pg.241]

The NSC was trained using labeled data acquired during inspection of objects with known defects. Examples of spectra for the object Lower wing skin are shown in Figure 5, the spectra measured for the flawless structures for different number of layers in the upper panel, the spectra corresponding 100% and 50% disbonds in the middle and lower panel, respectively. The size of the disbonds is given as a percent of active surface of the probe used for the test. [Pg.109]

When a block is inside, the entrance panel is closed and the inspection is ready to start. The inside of the stainless steel X-ray tubehead housing is clad in lead with an on/ofT shutter in front of a thin plastic X-ray window. The thin window is to ensure the IP 65 classification. The window is of plastic that is not affected by the cleaning agents. The on/off shutter is interlocked with the entrance and exit panels so X-rays can be kept on at all times without risk of radiation leakage or exposure of the frozen fish blocks prior to the actual inspection. [Pg.591]

Within the preset time limit, the operator can at any time press the reject button, which will close the on/off shutter, open the exit panel and move the block on to an output conveyor At the same time the entrance panel will open to admit the next block awaiting inspection. [Pg.592]

Grademarking and certification—includes certification procedures performed by a qualified inspection and testing agency, and definitions of panel marking requirements... [Pg.384]

Tray active panels installed with valves under downcomer of tray above. Limited capacity. High and unstable pressure drop at moderate rates. Installation and inspection error. [Pg.300]

Error probabilities that are used in decomposition approaches are all derived in basically the same manner. Some explicit or implicit form of task classification is used to derive categories of tasks in the domain addressed by the technique. For example, typical THERP categories are selections of switches from control panels, walk-around inspections, responding to alarms and operating valves. [Pg.226]

Aiken J. Panel criticizes FDA inspections of imported drugs. (CNN Online report, 9 June 2000.1 http //www.cnn.eom/2000/HEALTH/06/09/tainted.drugs/index.html. [Pg.138]

As alluded to above, the method relies upon the identification of a 3A-dimensional vector in configuration space, es, which points along a favored direction for the motion of the system. We then choose the initial momenta for the trajectory ensemble from a Gaussian distribution artificially extended in the direction of es, as illustrated in the right panel of Fig. 8.2. In the case of free energy reconstructions from (8.49), we wish to induce motion along a predefined pulling direction, and so es can be found by inspection. [Pg.303]

Blister Box Test, according to ASTM D 4585 (ISO 6270). This test evaluates the water resistance of a coat by condensation of water vapour. The panel surface with the coating system is exposed to 40°C, saturated water vapour, at an angle of 15° to the horizontal. The reverse side of the panel is exposed to room temperature. At each inspection blisters and rust are evaluated according to ASTM D 714 (ISO 4628-2) and ASTM D 610 (ISO 4628-3) respectively. Cracking is evaluated according to ISO 4628-4. When the test is stopped, adhesion is evaluated according to ASTM D 3359, tape test (ISO 2409) or ASTM D 4541 (ISO 4624), pull-off test. [Pg.206]

Picoult-Newberg et al. (1999) analyzed >21,000 5 ESTs and >19,000 3 ESTs. More than 6000 candidates were localized, but only 850 passed the filters applied. They inspected the fluorescence traces of 100 randomly selected specimens. A total of 88 verified candidates were then validated as common variants by sequencing from a panel of individuals 55 out of 88 sites were confirmed to be polymorphic. In four cases all samples appeared to be heterozygous, which points to sampling from more than one gene of a multigene family (they did not pursue possible paralogy). [Pg.423]
