SOME EARLY INHIBITORS, DEPOSIT CONTROL AGENTS, AND COOLING WATER PROGRAMS... 

Some important early cooling water inhibitors, deposit control agents, and cooling water programs leading up to the introduction of the modern deposit control agents (DCAs) are described in this section. 

In addition, they are anodic inhibitors, depositing iron metaphosphate, and forming y-Fe2C>3, thus stifling the anodic reaction. High and low pH or high temperatures will hasten the reversion (hydrolysis) of polyphosphate to orthophosphate.

Successes in plastics technology have spurred the progress of composites with a microporous polymer matrix having a layer of solid phase inhibitors deposited by sublimation on pore walls. These materials are mainly designed for protection of friction joints against corrosion under both static and dynamic conditions.
