Infrared band assignments

The HS2 radical was detected by its infrared absorption spectrum and the S2 molecule by luminescence spectroscopy. In addition, infrared bands assigned to dimers of disulfane molecules were observed at higher H2S2 concentrations. The HS2- radicals may further be split into hydrogen atoms and S2 molecules during the photolysis since the concentration of HS2- first increases and then decreases while that of S2 steadily increases. No evidence for the thiosulfoxide H2S=S was found, and the probably formed HS- radicals are assumed to be unable to leave their cage in the matrix and either recombine to H2S2 or form H2+S2 [69]. [Pg.118]

The role of 19 e intermediates has been a source of controversy, in particular many mechanisms can be explained without their proposal, and few 19 e complexes have been crystallographically characterized. Ultrafast photochemical studies of phosphite substitution in W(CO)3Cp allowed the direct detection of infrared bands assigned to W(CO)3(PR3)Cp in Equation 10.44 with decay times on the order of 280 ns63... [Pg.445]

The isomorphous substitution of tetrahedral A1 in zeolite structure with elements such as gallium, boron or iron has been described in a large number of papers. In the case of Fe for instance, the presence of Fe h jp the framework gives rise to new infrared bands assigned to Si-O-Fe bonds (8). Mossbauer spectroscopy, which is a very valuable tool in this case,... [Pg.195]

There are many current techniques used for assisting in near-infrared band assignments, including Darling-Dennisotf resonance, deuteration, polarization, and two-dimensional (2-D) correlation spectroscopy. The scope of this book is practical rather than theoretical, and so the techniques are mentioned here for further investigation by the reader. [Pg.33]

Preparation of Monomer V. 4(2-Vinyloxyethoxy)cyclohexene (5 g, 0.027 mol) and 1.09 g (0.0026 mol) of Tg were placed in a vial together with a magnetic stirrer and sealed with a screw cap. Approximately 50 mL of Karstedt s platinum catalyst was added and the mixture heated to 80°C. The initially insoluble Tg went in solution as the reaction proceeded. The reaction was monitored by following the disappearance of the 2254 cm infrared band assigned to the Si-H bond. After approximately 30 minutes, the reaction was complete. Excess 4(2-vinyloxyethoxy)cyclohexene was removed under vacuum leaving V as a colorless oil. [Pg.294]
