Information facilitated collaboration

The present survey places emphasises on the atmospheric chemistry research in the 10 countries named above. It also describes the air quality monitoring systems and air pollution modelling studies in these countries. The aim is to gather information and make it available in condensed form in order to facilitate collaboration with other nations and also strengthen the research within the countries. 

Expand partnerships and information exchange and facilitate collaborative research and development for beneficial uses of nuclear energy — including evolutionary and innovative technological developments for improved competitiveness, safety, proliferation resistance and waste reduction — particularly for developing countries in the areas of small and medium size reactors and non-electricity applications such as desalination, heat production and hydrogen production. ... 

Foremost it is critical to move the historic herbal text into an electronic format. This process can be very time consuming [28] however, it is essential for two reasons. First, these historic texts are rare and having them in an electronic format facilitates increased access for the collaborating groups. Second, the volume of information is difficult to handle when the data are not in an electronic format. We have recently employed the Kirtas system (Fig. 4.5) to move a number of texts into electronic format. We have yet to formally address the precision of the scanned-in documents however. 

Information on how to prepare a Cochrane Review is contained in the Cochrane Reviewers Handbook (www.cochrane.org/resources/handbook). Preparing a Cochrane Review requires skills that may be new to the author. The Cochrane Collaboration s Open Learning Material (www.cochrane.org/resources/ openlearning), together with the Cochrane Reviewers Handbook, helps people to prepare a Cochrane Review, and the Cochrane Centres and some Collaborative Review Groups provide or facilitate training through workshops (www.cochrane.org/news/ workshops.htm). 

Both verbal and written information should be included as part of the patient and family education. A written set of instructions about taking medications with dates, times, and doses is often helpful. In addition to reading materials provided by the physician or nurse, the patient and family should be encouraged to read about and research the illness and treatment. This collaboration facilitates active learning and helps ensure compliance by giving the patient and family autonomy and control over the treatment. 

Collaborative research initiatives for the use of chemical genetics to facilitate discovery of potential cancer (or other) therapeutics by the initiative for Chemical Genetics at the National Cancer Institute (50) and to facilitate the discovery of netv targets and drug candidates by the Chemical Genomics Center at the National Institutes of Health (51) have been initiated. These initiatives will result in databases that contain information that most likely will be valuable to the study of cellular signaling networks.
