Influence of the Irradiation Source

Oxidation of poiypropyiene caused by ionizing radiation (totai dose 50 kGy) y-irradiation dose rate 2 x 10 Gy/h, eiectron radiation 7.2 x i(f Gy/h, 10MeV[714] [Pg.547]

There is also an essential difference between electron and 7-radiation with regard to dose rate and degradation caused by oxidation on and near the plastic material s surface. For electron and 7-radiation of the same strength, the dose rate of the electron source is several times higher than the dose rate of the 7-source. This is caused by the fact that the electron beam is unidirectional and thus has significantly higher energy density [714], [Pg.547]
