Industrial applications aqueous systems

T. N. Rogers, Heny s Law Constantsfor Environmental Applications, presented at the Second International Conference on Thermodynamics of Aqueous Systems with Industrial Apphcations, Warrenton, Virginia (May 10—14, 1987). [Pg.258]

These types of surfactants have the largest share of world-wide total production [14] and the highest application rates in household, trade and industrial processes. As these compounds were handled mainly in aqueous systems, they were consequently discharged with the waste-water. After a more or less efficient wastewater treatment (WWT) process, which results in an elimination, i.e. degradation by wastewater biocoenosis and/or adsorption of the surfactants to the sludge, these polar compounds and their metabolites either reach the environment by wastewater discharges or are adsorbed to wastewater sludge,... [Pg.335]

This volume contains most of the papers presented at a conference on The Thermodynamics of Aqueous Systems with Industrial Applications, held October 22-25, 1979 at Airlie House, Warrenton, Virginia. The conference, cosponsored by the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, the National Bureau of Standards, and the National Science Foundation, was organized by the following members of the AIChE Subcommittee on Thermodynamics (Research Committee) Stephen A. Newman, Herbert E. Barner, Stanley S. Grossel, Michael G. Kesler, Max Klein, and Stanley I. Sandler. [Pg.2]
