Indigo warps

Cha.in Wa.rp Dyeing. This procedure is widely used in the dyeing of indigo on warp yams which are in the form of ropes or chains. In this procedure, several warp ropes are pulled through a series of tubs containing the dye Hquor and gradually are dyed to the desired shade. 

The special requirements of the indigo dyeing of cotton warp yarns for denim are capable of being met by indirect electrolysis systems [241]. Examples of four suitable redox systems are shown in Table 12.37. Uniform build-up of depth was observed with each successive step, the results being at least equal to those from the conventional dithionite-based process. Apparendy these processes are amenable to scaling up to bulk production levels [241].

Blue jeans acquire their typical appearance only if they are manufactured out of indigo-dyed denim. A particular weave and the poor fastness to rubbing of the indigo dyeing are critical here. Before the weaving, only the warp threads...
