Indicate more comprehensive treatment

In a more comprehensive treatment of nomenclature, compounds containing ions that exhibit more than one charge have the ionic charge indicated by the Roman numeral. For example, Sn and Pb are not transition metals, but their names require a Roman numeral because their charge can vary from one compound to another. [Pg.110]

A comprehensive assessment includes a description of psychiatric symptoms, physical findings, frequency and severity of binge/purge episodes, laxative and ipecac use, exercise patterns, and laboratory and ECG abnormalities. Interpersonal and relationship problems should also be evaluated. Some findings indicating a more chronic course of illness, such as salivary gland inflammation or erosion of dental enamel, may take months to reverse or may never normalize, hence these are not sensitive indicators of early treatment... [Pg.1154]

A comprehensive treatment of the many permutations of types of waste water, the impurities to be removed and their interactions with the form of the lime product used is beyond the scope of this work. The following sections indicate some of the more important factors to be considered. Because of the complexity of the subject, it is generally advisable to carry out detailed laboratory evaluations of the processes being considered. [Pg.323]

Only a very few solvents will be considered, chosen so as to illustrate a wide range of behaviour towards acids and bases, and these will include some in which the interaction with the solvent is so small that it is necessary to add a second acid-base pair (for example an indicator) before measurable equilibria are set up. We shall begin with qualitative descriptions, followed by a more quantitative treatment of a few examples. There now exist a number of comprehensive accounts of behaviour in non-aqueous solvents, and few references will therefore be given in this chapter. [Pg.44]

Because the older formulation of diclofenac for parenteral injection was approved in the UK decades ago and marketed there continuously since, with ample experience as to its safety and efficacy, the regulatory pathway for approval of the new formulation in that country as an essentially similar product was relatively straightforward. The new formulation was approved and has been marketed in the UK since late 2007 for parenteral use, 75 mg every 12 hours as needed for the treatment of acute moderate to severe pain. This dose, dosing interval, and indication are the same as for the earlier formulation. Other European submissions are planned and our new formulation of injectable diclofenac is currently under clinical development in the USA. Because no injectable diclofenac has previously been approved in the USA, the US clinical development program has been more comprehensive than that in the UK, including clinical trials that have assessed various doses and dose intervals in several pain models and in subjects ranging from healthy normal subjects to post-surgical patients, and patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency. [Pg.232]

A number of specialized subjects in heat transfer are important in modern technology. In this chapter we shall present a brief introduction to five such topics. The treatment here is not intended to be comprehensive, but rather to indicate the basic physical mechanism of the processes involved. It would be possible, of course, to include these topics in other chapters of the book, but we choose to group them together in order to focus more specialized attention on the subject matter. Since the discussions which follow represent only cursory treatments of the subjects, the serious reader will wish to consult the appropriate references for additional information. [Pg.601]

HA/silica gel was studied as a tissue engineering scaffold for the delivery of BMSCs and platelet-rich growth factor and results indicated that this nanoscaffold-assisted strategy was more effective for bone regeneration in vivo compared to the treatment without nanoscaffold [93]. There are a lot of studies on composite nanoscaffolds composed of ceramics and other materials (mostly polymers or biomolecules) and Chapter 4 will deliver a comprehensive review on these nanocomposites. [Pg.68]
