INDEX safety policy

Companies generally prepare a safety manual that summarizes and indexes their various occupational safety policies, programs, and procedures. Table 4.1 provides a sample Table of Contents for such a manual. Background information, such as the design of the firewater system, will be provided in process safety documents. Many of the topics listed in Table 4.1 are discussed in other parts of this book. [Pg.93]

Stellman, J. M., ed. 1998. Encyclopedia of Occupational Health and Safety, 4th ed. (4 vols.) Geneva, Switzerland International Labour Office. It is divided into four volumes covering many important areas of occupational safety and health. Major sections in each volume are as follows Vol. 1 the body and health care prevention, management, and policy tools and approaches. Vol. 2 hazards. Vol. 3 chemicals and industries and occupations. Vol. 4 indexes and guides. [Pg.351]

The SUNflower approach was first presented in 2002 (Koomstra et al., 2002), when the road safety efforts of the three safest countries worldwide were compared Sweden, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. The main aim of this comparison was to acquire better insight into the policy development processes of these three countries. It was hoped that this comparison would identify the crucial points that had made it possible for these nations to improve their respective road safety records, and to learn how further improvements could be achieved. Later, this approach was expanded to include nine countries (Wegman et al., 2008). These efforts eventually resulted in a proposal to benchmark the safety performance of countries and jurisdictions (states within countries, provinces) using a composite road safety performance index (Wegman et al., 2008 Wegman and Oppe, 2010). [Pg.411]
