This system requires a pump with a best effieieney point (BFP) of 94 feet at 300 gallons per minute. If this is a eonventional industrial centrifugal pump with a BFiP of 94 feet, the shut-off head should be approximately 110 feet. And if the motor is a standard NFMA four pole motor spinning at about 1800 rpm, the diameter of the impeller should be approximately 10.5 inehes. If this pump were bought off the shelf from local distributor stock, it would probably be a 3 x 4 x 12 model end-suction centrifugal back pullout pump with the impeller machined to about 10.5 inches before installing the pump into the. system. And that s the way it is done. [Pg.106]

The motor end-float must exceed the coupling end-float by M inch, making the minimum permissible motor end-float A inch. [Pg.341]

The motor magnetic center must be within /u inch of the motor .s geometric center. [Pg.341]

If you have a non-ca dtating (sufficient NPSH) operating 9-inch impeller producing 125 GPM at 85 feet total head pumping kerosene of SpGr = 0.8 at 1750 rpm using 6.2 BHP (not motor nameplate), what diameter impeller should be used to make a permanent change to 85 GPM at 60 feet head, at the same speed ... [Pg.203]

The first step is to draw two horizontal lines on the graph paper. One is used to plot the vertical data and the other to plot the horizontal. These two lines show the location of each measurement point in inches with the outboard motor bearing being at zero. [Pg.731]

A mode curve exhibiting this shape could indicate that the motor mountings, or the baseplate under the motor, are loose and that the motor is moving vertically. In fact, in the example from which this figure was taken, this is exactly what was happening. The blower s baseplate floats on a one-inch thick cork pad, which is normally an acceptable practice. However, in this example, an inlet filter/silencer was mounted without support directly to the inlet located on the right end of the machine. The weight of the filter/silencer compressed the cork pad under the blower, which lifted the motor-end of the baseplate off of the cork pad. In this mode, the motor has complete freedom of movement in the vertical plane. In effect, it... [Pg.731]

Individual drive motors on each of the vehicle s four wheels allows a fuel cell powered all wheel drive system. Three tanks hold Hy-wire s hydrogen fuel, compressed at 5,000 pounds per square inch. These were developed by Quantum Fuel Systems, the company that developed the industry s first 10,000-psi tanks, which could allow a fuel cell car to have a driving range of 230 miles. [Pg.169]

Beneath the passenger cabin is an 11-inch-thick aluminum frame that holds all of the electric motors, microprocessors, mechanical parts, fuelcell components, hydrogen tanks and other systems needed to operate the vehicle. The control wiring is carried in a single harness and permits designers to locate the operating controls virtually anywhere in the wide-open interior. [Pg.169]

The General Motors Sequel fuel cell concept car holds enough fuel for 300 miles. It fits the seven kilograms of hydrogen into an 11-inch thick skateboard chassis. The Sequel has been called a crossover SUV. Since mechanical components are replaced by electrical parts, interior layouts can be more open with more space in smaller vehicles. [Pg.171]

The Peugeot Quark ATV uses an air-cooled fuel cell with a 40 cell nickel metal hydride battery. The 9 liter hydrogen tank can be pressurized to 10,150 psi for a range of up to 80 miles. The tank is designed to be exchanged for a full one when empty. Each 17 inch wheel has its own electric motor that can produce 74 pound-feet of torque. The motors also supply regenerative braking. [Pg.180]

Single 4-inch rocket motor segments of M28 propellant can be hydrolyzed at 110°C (230°F) in 5 hours with less than 5 grams of propellant remaining. [Pg.133]
