Important Materials and their Properties

The most important materials of the chemical industry are listed in Table 2.10-1 [see also UUrnatm 1992]. 

The choice of a suitable material is a matter of optimization between material and processing costs on the one hand, and minimum requirements with regard to me-chartical properties (e.g., tensile strength), thermal stability, and corrosion resistance on the other.
