Suffixes hyphenation

Finally, the number of cells in series is given by a prefix, and the number of cells (or series groups) in parallel by a hyphenated suffix. [Pg.317]

Hyphenate suffixes to proper nouns, and retain the capital letter. [Pg.138]

A hyphenated suffix number, following the basic chain number, indicates the number of strands in a multiple-strand chain. For example (see Table 2-1), 60-2 designates two strands of a number 60 chain in parallel having common pins, 60-3 designates a triple strand, 60-4 a quadruple strand, and so on. And the number 80H-2 designates two strands of a number 80, heavy series chain. [Pg.21]

Numerical prefixes (placed before a name, but joined to it by a hyphen), infixes (inserted into a name, usually between hyphens) and suffixes (placed after a name). [Pg.1]

Assemble the name as a single word in the following order number, group, root, and suffix. Note that a hyphen is used to separate numbers from the name. [Pg.150]

Use the formula prefix + root + suffix to put the name together. The full name of this compound is 2-ethyl-1-butene. Remember that a hyphen is placed between numbers and letters, and commas are placed between consecutive numbers. [Pg.556]

Most suffixes are not hyphenated. Do not hyphenate the following suffixes when added to words that are not proper nouns. [Pg.137]

Hyphenate the suffixes like and wide when they are added to words of three or more syllables. [Pg.138]

Hyphenate the suffix like in two-word compounds used as unit modifiers. [Pg.138]

Do not use hyphens to separate the syllables of a chemical name unless the name is too long to fit on one line. Appendix 12-1 is a list of prefixes, suffixes, roots, and some complete words hyphenated as they would be at the end of a line. [Pg.241]

The suffix like . Hyphenate the suffix like to words of three or more syllables, to two-word compounds used as unit modifiers, to chemical names, and to proper nouns and adjectives. [Pg.292]

Note ZD suffixed by 1, 2, 3 and 4 represent zeolite doses e.g. 0.6, 1.0, 1.66 and 5.0 gA, respectively. A number after hyphen indicates the interaction time in hours... [Pg.122]
