Hyperglycemic hormone

Glucagon is a hyperglycemic hormone secreted by the alpha cells of the islets of Langerhans in the pancreas and increases blood sugar by stimulating glycogenolysis (glycogen breakdown) in the liver.

Growth hormone is one of the glucose counterregulatory hormones. It is released in response to hypoglycemia and has intrinsic hyperglycemic actions and causes insulin resistance. 

Glucagon, U5P. The hyperglycemic-glycogenolytic hormone elaborated by the a cells of the pancreas is knnwn as glucagon. It contains 29 amino acid residues in the sequence shown. Glucagon has been isolated from the amorphous fraction of a commercial insulin sample (4% glucagon). 

Cortisol. Cortisol, secreted by the adrenal cortex in response to adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), stimulates gluconeogenesis and increases the breakdown of protein and fat. Patients with Cushing s syndrome have increased cortisol owing to a tumor or hyperplasia of the adrenal cortex and may become hyperglycemic. In contrast, people with Addisons disease have adrenocortical insufficiency because of destruction or atrophy of the adrenal cortex and may exhibit hypoglycemia. ...
